"Pois"

More than just a word, the Portuguese "pois" can be an "indeed", a "because", a "by the way", or a way to fill the silence.

"As conversas são como as cerejas" — Conversations are like cherries (you can never have just one).

If the saying holds true, "pois" is the little vine which connects and keeps dialogue flowing. Deceptively simple and hard to define, it's the sound of a conversation moving forward and – as I often tell my students – easier to grasp in the context of real-life exchanges.

From introductory A0-level lessons to refining fluency at the C2 level, classes cover all levels and learning goals.

We can focus on grammar, conversation or explore Portuguese culture and literature together. I can provide you with a structured study plan or we can work towards a concrete objective, such as the CAPLE exams.

What do classes look like?

Classes can take place in person, online or in a hybrid format – it's up to you.

For each class, I'll provide a study plan and practice exercises. I can organise classes or you can tell me what to do. Classes can take place in person, online, or in a mixed format – you decide. During in-person lessons, we take advantage of the city to learn in a dynamic way—visiting a market, museum, or café to put into practice what we’ve learned. Each class lasts 1 hour.

Materials

All class materials are included in the lesson price. The fee also covers extra worksheets with reviews and exercises, so you can practice at home independently.
